The Richmond Delta Branch invites you to a guided tour of BCIT’s CARI Lab, offering insight into its research focus and foundational purpose. The event will feature a technical presentation by Tim Henthorne on the Boeing 737 MAX crashes and the subsequent global grounding of the aircraft. Widely recognized for his engaging delivery, Tim will examine the engineering challenges, media response, and broader implications, highlighting the importance of accountability and informed analysis.

Tim Henthorne has a BASc degree (mechanical engineering) from the University of British Columbia as well as grad studies in failure analysis. He is a registered Professional Engineer in B.C.

He also holds Transport Canada Licenses as an AME (aircraft maintenance engineer) covering fixed wing & helicopter maintenance, structural repair and component overhaul.

Tim acquired a broad range of engineering experience over his 40 year career in the fields of aircraft maintenance and modification, precision machine design, automation and alternative energy technology.

He was a Principal Engineer at Kodak Graphics where he was responsible for mechanical design as well as leadership and management of development teams working on cutting edge large format laser imaging devices. While a senior engineer at Etalim he developed high temperature components and micro channel devices for a high efficiency thermo-acoustic engine. Through his consulting company, Helios Engineering, he has provided engineering expertise and leadership in high tech, forensic engineering and clean energy to companies such as Exro Technologies, MEA Forensics, Endurance Wind Power, Etalim Inc., RJ Waldron, Kardium, Arius 3D, AquaEye, VMAC and Sanctuary AI.
