The South Central Branch and Thompson Rivers University 21st Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition

Join the Thompson Rivers University for their 21st Annual Popsicle Stick Bridget Competition in partnership with BCSEG's South Central Branch.

March 7 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Join us at the 21st Annual British Columbia Society of Engineering and Geoscience-supported Thompson Rivers University Popsicle Stick Bridge Contest on Saturday, March 7, 2026, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Room TT241 of the Trades & Technology Building on the Kamloops campus. Participants will test their popsicle-stick bridges to destruction using a live testing machine, with the strongest bridge in each category becoming the winner. Open to individuals and teams in Elementary (Grade 7 and under), Secondary (Grades 8-12), Open (public and university students), and Corporate (engineering firms) divisions, each team may submit one bridge built with up to 100 standard sticks and white glue only—no cutting or alteration permitted. With prizes for 1st ($50), 2nd ($25), and 3rd (swag bag) in each category, this event challenge combines creativity, engineering skill, and friendly competition - all are welcome to register early, or on‐site, and join the excitement!

Event Schedule

The event will begin at 9:30am with the elementary school student’s bridges being tested first. Once complete, the high school students will be next, finishing up with the open category.
