Chemical Engineer (Process Engineering)

ADT Property Solutions is a British Columbia-based civil and environmental infrastructure company specializing in underground utilities, wastewater systems, stormwater management, and site development. The company provides excavation, installation, and infrastructure support services for municipal, commercial, and residential projects.

We are seeking a Process Engineer to design, optimize, and oversee wastewater, stormwater, and environmental process systems. The successful candidate will apply chemical engineering principles to fluid transport systems, treatment processes, bioremediation solutions, and environmental compliance strategies.

Wage: $55.00 – $60.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

This position requires regular on-site presence and travel to remote project locations. Candidates must be willing to work away from home for extended periods depending on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

– Design and size pumps, piping networks, and force main systems using fluid dynamics and hydraulic modeling principles.
– Develop process specifications for wastewater transport and treatment systems.
– Perform flow, pressure, and energy balance calculations for lift station systems.
– Establish operating parameters and system performance criteria.
– Design and optimize biological treatment systems, including aerobic and anaerobic processes.
– Develop bioremediation strategies for contaminated soils and water systems.
– Conduct process monitoring and performance analysis of microbial treatment systems.
– Develop procedures for handling hazardous materials and waste streams.
– Oversee installation and commissioning of wastewater pumping and treatment systems.
– Conduct performance testing and system validation.
– Troubleshoot process inefficiencies and implement corrective engineering solutions.
– Supervise scale-up or modification of existing treatment systems.
– Ensure compliance with federal and British Columbia environmental regulations.
– Develop risk mitigation and process safety strategies.
– Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and engineering documentation.
– Provide technical direction to technicians and field personnel.

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
– Minimum 3–5 years of experience in process engineering, wastewater systems, or environmental infrastructure projects.
– Strong understanding of fluid systems, pumping systems, and process design principles.
– Experience with wastewater treatment, septic systems, or stormwater management is considered an asset.
– Strong analytical, documentation, and technical reporting skills.
– Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
– Applicants must be eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
– If an EIT is hired, they will be supervised by a registered engineer when performing engineering-related tasks.
– Depending on the type of professional hired, the appropriate title will be assigned to the successful candidate.
