In May we released a survey to our mailing list to learn more about the priorities of engineers and geoscientists. The survey had an impressive 46% response rate, and we are pleased to share the top three priorities:
- Provide a representative voice on behalf of engineering and geoscience professions
- Advocate for greater public awareness, understanding, and respect for your profession
- Support education, training, and professional development
The following focus areas were rated top three in our survey responses:
- Advocacy for the Professions
- Professional Development
- Compensation
The BCSEG Programs Working Group has reviewed the feedback from this survey and is currently working on the following priorities:
- Initiated planning for a geographical Branches structure in BCSEG
- Plans for follow up engagement survey
- Evaluating programs that EGBC has identified for transition (eg. Affinity and Career Advertising)
- Evaluating programs that have been requested by mailing list members (eg. The Compensation Survey)
Since April, we’ve also had BCSEG representatives at several events, including community and outreach events like the Popsicle Stick Bridge building competition, branch events including the Branch Representatives meeting, and conferences and industry events.
